Travelling around Neringa can be not only comfortable, but also full of discoveries. The local taxi company Kapitono Taxi is proof of this, and its services are used by locals and holidaymakers alike. We talk to the founder of the company about how the idea was born, the challenges faced by local businesses in Nida and why human contact is key Ionu Alseika.
- How was the idea for Captain's Taxi born?
J. Alseika:
Quite simply, from real need. I live in Nida, and I have often found myself in a situation where I need transport in the evening or in the low season, but there is nothing. This is what prompted me to start this activity. I wanted to create not only a transport service, but also something close, friendly, so... human. And so Captain's Taxi was born - with a smile, without haste and with respect for every passenger.
- What is unique about your service, what makes Kapitono taksi different from other service providers?
J. Alseika:
We are local. We know every corner of Nida and the Curonian Spit. I can safely say that our drivers don't just take you there, they offer you something too. If the customer has time, we always tell them what's worth visiting. And we don't just offer the usual transfers - we provide intercity transfers to airports, welcome Klaipeda ship terminals, and recently more and more customers are choosing transport for weddings or other events.
- Do you notice the influence of seasonality?
J. Alseika:
Of course. Summer is a fever pitch, and life slows down in autumn. But that's when the people who really want to see Neringa through more than tourist glasses come. And we work all year round. In both winter and spring, you can book a taxi in Nida - sometimes that's when people need help the most.
- What is the most important principle for you in this work?
J. Alseika:
For me, the most important thing is - the human touch. You can have a nice car or good advertising, but if you don't respect your passenger, it's all for nothing. That's why our drivers are friendly, they don't overload you with conversation if you don't want to, but they are always ready to help, advise and assist. Because every journey is a small credit of trust.
- What are your future plans?
J. Alseika:
We are currently looking to expand our services for events - weddings, parties, even business meetings. We already have the experience, but we see that the demand is growing. We are also looking at the possibility of collaborating with tourist information centres, so that visitors know when they arrive that they are welcome here reliable taxis in Nida and throughout Neringa.
- What would you say to those who haven't tried your services yet?
J. Alseika:
Try it and you will feel the difference. Captain's taxi - it's not just a journey, it's an attitude. Comfortable, on time, with respect. And if you still want to talk, we'll share some secrets you won't find in tourist guides.
